I don't really have much to say about this weeks reveals. It looks like us humans will have to learn to play nice with the other races in Tyria seeing as how we are no longer the dominant race in the world.ĭid anyone else have an "Eye of the Tiger" moment while reading this? The future for humans looks pretty depressing as far as their situation goes. There are plenty more things that I could talk about that came in the update, but I really want to go play now. You have yet to disappoint and I look forward to what you have installed for us in the coming year. All I can say to ArenaNet is, keep the updates coming and keep the hype up for the community. He put into words exactly what I was thinking. While reading Ravious's article over at Kill Ten Rats, There is something to be said about braving the dangers of running missions and certain parts of the game while a lower level What's not to stop an SoS Rit, or a Permasin, or any number of solo farming builds, from racing to 20 and dying a whole bunch only to get their particular build and hit the easy mode button. There's something about not receiving all of the xp from the beginning of your characters creation that cheapens this title. On the other hand, I feel like this title is kind of cheapened now. Pretty awesome for characters, like my warrior ,that have been around since launch day and weren't even given the chance to obtain this item. Meaning, that I can still achieve the title by gaining the required xp to obtain the title. For example, if I die at lvl 15 my survivor title track resets. Survivor title is now based off of your xp in between deaths. Instead of popping drinks and keeping a stopwatch active, all you have to do is simply pop a drink and reap the rewards.įor better, or worse, Survivor has also changed. It is definitely a better way for players to maximize their playtime. This title is now based on a point system rather than minutes. Drunkard, which I thought needed a change from the beginning. If anyone does this, let me know how that goes. On an interesting note, it would be cool to run an eight man Discordway, which would be impossible without the use of mercenaries. I see it as just a cosmetic add on though. I love the idea that the hero is essentially a clone of you, down to the armor. Mercs I'm not up for buying things that I really don't need and for the most part this is how I feel about mercenary heroes. Let's face it, this is an excellent way for players to learn elite areas, such as UW, FoW, DoA, without having to face the scrutiny of their peers. With seven heroes I can solo even the elite areas of the game by myself. Let's face it, henchman were the real reason why I shyed away from wanting to solo play all the time. Embark Beach fixes the mulitplayer aspect that I crave, now the introvert in me is able to solo play more affectively. This update completely changes my opinion. In a previous blog post, I discussed how I felt that heroes might have ruined the multiplayer aspect of Guild Wars. If I'm gonna grind out titles, I mine as well do it with some good company.ħ HeroesOk, so you aren't in to playing with others and you'd rather be able to take your time and experiment with unconventional builds. Personally, I plan on just looking for PUG's to run hard mode missions and vanquish areas. I see Embark Beach as ArenaNet's gift to social gamers and I hope that everyone takes advantage of this huge resource. This means that anyone looking to run a mission, vanquish an area or just plan play with other people, you now have a home. From Embark Beach you and your party can go anywhere in the game, so long as everyone in your group has been there. Embark Beach brings back the idea of grouping once again. Let's dig in and take a look at the update.Įmbark Beach A couple of blogs ago I talked about whether or not Guild Wars was an MMO or a single player RPG. There is something for everyone in this update. Now that we are both on the same page I have to say that this is probably the single greatest update that the Guild Wars devs have ever put together. Ok, first thing, pick your jaw up off the floor. I'll wait here while you go and read the notes.īack? Good. I suppose the best place to start would be to give everyone the link in case you're one of the few who haven't read the article yet:
